Our logo features a hand-drawn sketch of the alchemical symbol ‘Antimony’. We mainly chose this because, for us, it resembles the image of a person dancing in the ‘Power Pose’. We love it as it looks strong, energised and free, and we also love it because it’s androgynous; combining both the masculine and feminine into ONE unified being.
The practice of alchemy was the attempt to discover how to transmute base metals of no worth into materials of high value (for example, lead into gold). The symbols used in ancient alchemy are very artistic in nature. We had originally included three alchemical symbols in our first logo design (antimony/gold/silver) to represent a journey of personal inner transformation from a human perspective.
For aesthetic reasons, we removed the gold and silver. We chose this font because the letter ‘A’ looks like a modern take on the alchemical symbol for the element of fire. We love our logo as we think it’s simple, meaningful and memorable…and because we can see human soul, strength, unity and movement.
Interesting facts we discovered about the metalloid Antimony:
Antimony resembles metal in appearance and physical properties, but doesn’t chemically react as a metal. Antimony is considered to be a symbol for the wild and free parts of human nature.
Antimony represents animal tendencies found in humankind and was often symbolised by the wolf.
Antimony is effective when we are feeling weak. When worn, it can remind us of the animal power and wild nature that dwells within us.
